Westridge/Sullivan Canyon/Old Ranch Road

Drive to Old Ranch Road and carpool with fewest cars to Westridge.  There are no restrooms nor water at Old Ranch Road.  Then, this run starts at the end of Westridge Road and follows the fire road to Mulholland and the park at a former Nike Radar Station with a rest room and drinking fountain. We then go west along Mulholland to Sullivan Ridge for about 3/4 of a mile and drop down into Sullivan Canyon. At the end of Sullivan Canyon, we take a single track trail for about 1 mile to Old Ranch Road. We go SE for 1 mile on Old Ranch Road to the finish.

The trailhead is at the top of North Kenter Avenue which junctions with Sunset Boulevard about 1¼ miles west of the 405 Frwy.  From Sunset Blvd. to the trailhead at the top of North Kenter Avenue is about 2 miles and you know you're there because there is a large road barrier swing gate.  Parking is anywhere on the street prior to the gate.

Los Liones / Parker Overlook / Trippet Ranch

The trail at Los Liones climbs steeply for the first 2 miles through lush vegetation and ivy covered trees. A 1/2 mile diversion to Parker Overlook offers a beautiful view of the ocean and Santa Monica Bay. Then we continue on East Topanga Fireroad to Trippet Ranch and its water fountain and luxurious bathrooms. This is the  turnaround for our out and back run.

PARKING: We park at the first parking area with the bathrooms you'll see on your right when on Los Liones Drive.

Santa Ynez Canyon / Trippet Ranch / Musch Trail Loop/Eagle Rock Loop

This run begins in the cool Santa Ynez Canyon in Palisades Highlands. The run takes you through a lush canyon and then up the rugged and moderately steep Santa Ynez Canyon Trail to the Santa Ynez Fire Road and down to Trippet Ranch where there are bathrooms and drinking fountains. From Trippet Ranch we take the scenic Musch Trail back up to the Santa Ynez Fire Road and proceed to Hub Junction via Eagle Rock.  The course returns past the Musch Trail via Eagle Springs, and we continue and then descend the Santa Ynez trail to the finish.

This run starts at the end of Westridge Road and follows the fire road to Mulholland and the park at a former Nike Radar Station with a rest room and drinking fountain. We then go west on Mulholland to Sullivan Ridge and then down into shady Sullivan Canyon finishing with a climb up a steep and rugged trail to Westridge and the finish.

This challenging run starts at the Topanga State Park access parking lot at the top of Palisades Highlands. It has several climbs guaranteed to get your heart pumping. The course of fire roads and trails meanders along ridges and into canyons and has a variety of enjoyable views. Water is at the start and finish and at miles 6.4 and 7.4 near Trippet Ranch. Toilets are at the start and at Trippet Ranch.

We start at the Topanga State Park access parking lot at the top of Palisades Highlands and head toward Eagle Peak. Just before reaching it, we take the narrow but very pretty Garapito Trail before returning to the start. There are good views of the San Fernando Valley en route. This run starts in Santa Ynez Canyon in Palisades Highlands. After a flat run through a cool, lush canyon, we climb to a fire road above Tripett Ranch. We continue up the fire road around Eagle Peak, along a level stretch with good San Fernando Valley and Ocean views and then drop down through Trailer Canyon to return to the starting point. This is Run # 18 in "50 Trail Runs in Southern California," and is a Thanksgiving Day tradition for the Trailrunners Club.

Will Rogers Loop via Temescal Ridge Trail

This is a loop course that starts and ends at the Polo Field in Will Rogers State Park. The run takes the beautiful Rivas Canyon Trail, with several great view points, to Temescal Park and the Temescal Park Waterfall. From the Waterfall, the run continues up the Temescal West Ridge to the Temescal Ridge Fire Road and then back to the Polo Field at Will Rogers State Park via the spectacular Will Rogers Backbone Trial.
