This run starts and ends on Sycamore Canyon Fire road where the camp ground is. We start running up this fire road until we reach the turnoff for the Serrano Canyon Trail (watch out for the lush Poison Oak!), making our way to Serrano Valley at an elevation of 1303 ft. with it's majestic views of beautiful rolling grassland meadows that are a lush green and full of wildflowers in winter and a golden brown in summer. From Serrano Valley we will keep climbing onto Old Boney Trail and then climb up onto the Chamberlain Trail via lush switchbacks up to Chamberlain Rock, aka Butt-Rock. Here you scramble through the rock which locals believe will shed all your sins. Then you turn around and head back for seven miles of downhill glory while enjoying the shade, the panoramic views and all the endorphins flowing through your body.
We are parking and meeting on the PCH at the closest available legal parking area. Because of all the recent road closures for the mud slides, I'm not sure now where that will be. Come a little earlier so there is some extra time to find each other. (The pay parking lot is closed until 8am) -ann
