14.5 miles – 3,226 feet elevation gain

This is a tough loop but very beautiful. This side of the Santa Monica Mountains is so different than the LA side that it’s really worth the drive for LA peeps. A plus is that there’s water in the middle of the run at Danielson Ranch on Sycamore Canyon Fire road to refill your bottles and under the trees you can take a break at the picnic tables to have a quick snack to energize so you can continue on.

We park and meet at the Wendy trailhead in Newbury Park, this is a long dirt stretch along the road with tons of parking space. No water or bathrooms at this trailhead.

The run starts with making our way down Little Sycamore road (instead of the black top), then crossing the fire road to continue on the Hidden Pond trail. From there we drop down into Sycamore canyon to find our way to Danielson Ranch, take Blue Canyon trail, then turn left onto the Old Boney trail back to where we started.

This loop is run counter clockwise.
