This is an out & back run, starting at Sycamore Canyon. Parking lot opens not any earlier than 8 am so parking is outside the park. As there is construction on the PCH, parking is only in front of the big Sand Dune. Google map location

We start running (quietly) through the campground, passing the yellow gate that will bring us on Sycamore Canyon fire road. About one mile later we will take a left onto Serrano Canyon trail making our way to Serrano Canyon, then onto the Old Boney and climbing up the Backbone Trail where we make a u-turn once we reach Chamberlain memorial rock, but after we’ve squeezed ourselves through the rock crack, a tradition to be believed this practice will relieve you from any possible sins.
If 7 miles out (14 total) is not enough for you, keep climbing another 1.5 mile and you will have reached “the Saddle” at Tri-Peaks.
