Backbone Trail #3 “Kanan to Mishe Mockwa”
This used to be (before the Woolsey fire) a very lush area for the early part of the course then we’ll run on a variety of single track and fire road, part of it a new section built by the park services in 2016 to bypass the last private property that was left on the backbone trail. This run allows us to experience Zuma Canyon, Trancas Canyon and will take us to the highest area in the Santa Monica Mountains. Many of us have not seen these trails as none of our regular club runs go here so this is a great opportunity to explore some new terrain. It’s a really fun section and maybe the easiest of all of them, that’s highly recommended. This part of the Backbone trail ends at the Mishe Mockwa parking lot on Yerba Buena Road. Those that want to tag on extra miles can continue on running the 6.5 mile Mische Mockwa/Sandstone Peak loop.
MEETING LOCATION: That morning, we meet and park at the Mishe Mockwa parking lot a few minutes before 6:30 AM then we’ll take as fewest cars to the start at Kanan.
