Wirebreak – Santa Ynez Canyon + annual board meeting
FOLLOWED BY BOARD MEETING, ALL MEMBERS WELCOME.
Details for meeting will be in the weekly email prior to this run.
Mileage: 12.7 miles
Total elevation gain: +2,688 ft
We’ll start across the street from the Santa Ynez trailhead on a secret/hidden trail that takes us to “Wirebreak” and East Topanga Fireroad (aka Los Liones). From there, we head to Trippet, Musch, Eagle Rock and finish on Santa Ynez. This a total loop course of 12.7 miles.
For the first arrow at mile 0, look for the “No Parking” sign opposite side of the road from the normal trailhead. Trust the arrows and they’ll take you to a hidden trail for a flat 1/2 mile to Wirebreak.
At mile 0.6, you’ll see “Pavement Slippery” signs. If you pass those signs, then you missed the turn (by a few feet) onto Wirebreak , which begins the steep climb up to East Topanga. Despite the name, there’s no wire to break. In fact, there’s no wire at all.
