On this route we combine three loops. This way you can make it shorter any time.
The full experience is 13 miles with +2,800 ft of elevation gain

This extremely scenic run begins and ends at the Circle X Ranch parking lot on Yerba Buena Road. It heads out the Canyon View Trail, crosses Yerba Buena Road to the Sandstone Peak Trailhead, and continues on to the Mishe Mokwa Trail. The route goes past Split Rock and Tri Peaks before turning onto the Backbone Trail, passing Sandstone Peak (the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains, please go up there if the sky is clear). Then we return to the Canyon View Trail. Instead of going straight back to the cars, we take the Happy Hollow trail that will guide us back to Circle X Ranch.
This course offers sweeping valley to ocean vistas, as well as views of spectacular rock formations. The trails are mostly well maintained single track, with a few short technical sections.
